Must Know Info:
Luteinized Unruptured Follicle Syndrome (LUFS) may be a key piece in some Unexplained Infertility situations. While the condition is considered rare, it may be more prevalent than we think. One primary reason for this is that diagnosing LUFS is incredibly complex. LUFS cycles and normal cycles have many similarities. LH is released, the corpus luteum forms, and every hormonal marker that confirms ovulation is present. The catch - with LUFS, the follicle was never able to rupture, making pregnancy impossible.
If you've struggled with unexplained infertility, it may be worthwhile to bring this up with your care provider. Be sure to educate yourself in advance. Going in with as much knowledge as possible will help you collaborate with your provider on what is the best path forward.
